Nozomi integrates with NVIDIA BlueField to boost AI cyber defences

Yesterday

Nozomi Networks has announced an integration with NVIDIA BlueField Data Processing Units (DPUs) to enhance AI-based cybersecurity for operational technology, internet of things, and cyber-physical system environments.

The integration allows security professionals to deploy Nozomi Networks' sensors on NVIDIA BlueField-3 DPUs, providing an accelerated computing platform intended for real-time threat detection and response in demanding industrial settings.

Nozomi Networks' Co-founder and Chief Product Officer Andrea Carcano said: "Artificial Intelligence has always played a role in the security solutions Nozomi delivers, but it's quickly becoming a non-negotiable component of effective defences for critical infrastructure operators battling a growing number of sophisticated cyber threats."

Carcano added: "Understanding this, what's unique about our NVIDIA integration is the fact that it includes the advanced data processing that organizations need for AI-powered threat detection and response, AI-assisted vulnerability and risk management and much more. It's the first of many advancements we look forward to collaborating on with NVIDIA."

Through this integration, customers can operate Nozomi's network and endpoint sensors directly on NVIDIA BlueField hardware, reducing reliance on CPUs and potentially improving efficiency by freeing CPU resources for other industrial workloads.

The architecture also offers organisations a means to improve the security of legacy and mission-critical systems without altering network or system configurations, as analytics are performed at the edge on the DPU.

Nozomi said the collaboration would allow chief information security officers and their teams to protect critical operations by leveraging AI-based anomaly analysis at the edge, improve resilience and operational uptime, and streamline deployment within operational technology environments. The solution is designed to give operators increased autonomy to detect and respond to cyber threats in real time across industrial processes.

The combination of Nozomi Networks' expertise in OT, IoT and CPS security with NVIDIA's accelerated computing platform aims to address requirements set by the evolving cyber threat landscape. Security personnel and industrial operators can use insights gathered from Nozomi sensors placed on NVIDIA BlueField infrastructure alongside broader data collected from their environment—including network, wireless, and endpoint systems—to gain a more comprehensive picture of security analytics.

Ofir Arkin, Senior Distinguished Architect for Cybersecurity at NVIDIA, stated: "Critical infrastructure organisations are seeking advanced solutions to secure essential operational processes in the face of escalating threats."

"With NVIDIA's cybersecurity AI platform and BlueField-accelerated computing, Nozomi's innovations in OT and IoT security meet the unique operational characteristics of OT networks."

The integration is now available to global customers, with Nozomi Networks sensors for NVIDIA BlueField distributed through Nozomi Networks and its partner ecosystem. NVIDIA BlueField DPUs are offered via all major server manufacturers worldwide.

Nozomi Networks described its platform as providing network and endpoint visibility, threat detection, and AI-powered analysis to enable organisations to improve the speed and effectiveness of their incident response efforts, with a particular emphasis on minimising risk and complexity across critical infrastructure settings.
